The biomass of agricultural residues is used in the form of pellets and in addition to electricity generation, they can also be used:
- animal feed (derived from vetch, oats, wheat, barley)
- as bio fuel, or layered animal substrate (derived from corn, cotton)
The company produces pellets from wheat straw, barley, oats, corn and a mixture in different proportions. Straw as a product generally has a high caloric value and low moisture content. The straw pellet has a range of thermogenic power ranging from 16.5 to 19 MJ / kg with ash content less than 3.5% while moisture content remaining less than 12%. Pellet burning ash can be used as a fertilizer due to its high content of elements necessary for plant growth. In addition, in the case of burning straw pellet, the CO2 balance is zero because during combustion a quantity equal to that which was committed for its production during the process of photosynthesis is released. Therefore this fuel is environmentally friendly.
The straw pellet can also be used as animal feed with greater efficiency but also its ease of treatment against the straw ball because each animal will eat a certain amount without scattering the rest outside the feeder. Plastering helps increase the density of the straw mass, facilitating storage costs and reducing transport costs, making it more efficient against the ball.
Finally, the straw pellet finds an additional use which is the creation of a mattress for horses and small pets, since they are 100% natural products without chemical additives and do not hurt the animals because it can and does break easily. It has low moisture, urine and fecal absorption up to six times its mass and is cleaned quickly and easily and can be kept as layered for longer than other materials or common straw. In the end, from its use as a layer, being ecological, it can also be used as a fertilizer.
